Common Questions & Troubleshooting

Quick answers for residents and property managers.

For Residents

How do I connect to the property Wi-Fi?

Look for your property Wi-Fi network name (SSID) on your device. The network name and password are provided in your move-in packet or available from your leasing office. Once connected, you may need to accept terms of service through a quick captive portal page.

My internet is slow. What should I try first?

Start with these steps: (1) Restart your device, (2) Move closer to the nearest access point — walls and large furniture can reduce signal strength, (3) Disconnect devices you are not actively using, (4) Run a speed test at the resident portal to check your actual speeds. If the issue persists, contact our support team and we can diagnose remotely.

Can I upgrade my internet speed?

Speed tier upgrades are available at most UplinkIQ-managed properties. Log into your resident portal or contact our support team to see available plans and pricing for your community.

Who handles my billing — UplinkIQ or my property?

This varies by property. Some communities include internet in rent, others bill separately through UplinkIQ or through your property management company. Check your lease agreement or ask your leasing office for details on your specific billing arrangement.

What is low-latency internet, and why does it matter for me?

Latency is the time data takes to make a round trip between your device and the internet — the lower it is, the more instant everything feels. Low latency is what keeps a video call from talking over itself, a game from stuttering at the worst moment, and a movie from pausing to buffer. It matters most for the things you do live: calls, gaming, smart-home devices, and working from home.

Why does fiber make such a difference for streaming and video calls?

Fiber carries data as light through glass, which gives it two advantages you can feel every day: it is fast in both directions, and it stays steady when the whole building gets home in the evening. Upload speed is what your side of a video call rides on, so a fiber-backed connection keeps you looking sharp on calls — and one neighbor's movie night never has to slow down another's.

What do I need to do to get online on move-in day?

Very little — that is the point. If anything is unclear on the day, your leasing office or our support team can walk you through it — but most residents just do this: (1) find your community network name in your move-in packet, (2) connect and enter the password, (3) enjoy — you are online in minutes, with no ISP appointment, no technician visit, no waiting. Your service runs with your lease — it starts when you move in and ends when you move out — and if you move to another unit in the community, your network moves with you. Everything else is yours to manage from the mobile-friendly resident portal.

Is my connection private when the whole building shares one network?

Yes. Your home gets its own isolated slice of the network — the same VLAN segmentation technology businesses use — so your devices and your traffic are walled off from your neighbors'. Sharing the building's fiber backbone never means sharing your network.

How can I get the best Wi-Fi experience in my home?

A few small habits make a big difference: keep a clear line of sight to the nearest access point when you can, give speed-hungry devices the 5 GHz band where your device lets you choose, and restart a misbehaving device before anything else. If one corner of your home always struggles, tell us through the resident portal — coverage questions are exactly what our support team is there for.

Why does UplinkIQ care how my internet feels?

Because our network lives where you do — built into your building, not piped in from somewhere far away. When your internet simply works, home feels easier: calls hold steady, movie nights start on time, move-in day takes minutes. Those quiet moments are how we measure ourselves — and when something is off, real people who know your building answer for it.

For Property Managers

Your dedicated account manager will provide login credentials for the property dashboard during onboarding. The dashboard shows real-time network status, bandwidth utilization, connected devices, incident history, and resident support metrics.

Add or remove residents through the property dashboard, or ask your account manager to make the change for you. The same path covers move-in and move-out.

Our NOC team is alerted automatically within 60 seconds of any service degradation. We diagnose remotely and dispatch on-site technicians if hardware replacement is needed. Your account manager will provide real-time updates and a post-incident report within 24 hours.

You have access to real-time data via the property dashboard at any time. Additionally, your account manager delivers a formal quarterly business review covering network performance, resident satisfaction trends, support ticket analysis, and capacity planning recommendations.

One partner accountable for every network in the building, instead of a separate vendor for each one. A router in every residence, community Wi-Fi in the shared spaces, and a segment of its own for each building system — cameras, access control and IoT included — one fabric we design, monitor and support end to end.

Our team handles all Tier 1-3 support through your community's own branded portal and dedicated helpdesk, with same-business-day on-site technician dispatch for hardware issues — keeping your front desk staff focused on leasing. Automated help in the resident portal never closes, and our support team answers live from 9am-5pm.

Resident service co-terminates with the lease: it starts when a resident moves in and cancels when they move out — no new contract and no new application. If a resident moves to another unit, their network moves with them. Provisioning at move-in and move-out is automated, manual changes go through the property dashboard or your account manager, and residents manage everything themselves from the mobile-friendly web portal.

Enterprise-grade access points with centralized cloud management, VLAN segmentation that isolates each unit, WPA3 encryption as standard, bandwidth management and QoS, and automatic firmware updates. Shared amenity spaces get dedicated high-capacity coverage, and each building system runs on its own segment.

We negotiate bulk rates with tier-1 ISPs on behalf of your property, so residents get internet below retail pricing with single-bill convenience and transparent, straightforward billing — FCC bulk billing compliant. Your dashboard tracks bulk billing, resident plan upgrades and payments, and exports billing and usage reports for reconciliation and ownership reviews.

Every deployment starts with a comprehensive site survey and RF analysis. Our engineers produce custom CAD network drawings, fiber backbone and Cat6 horizontal design, access point heat mapping, and redundancy and failover planning, followed by a white-glove install. Your dedicated account manager provides your dashboard credentials during onboarding.

Service levels are set per property and written into your agreement. The property dashboard shows real-time network status and incident history against them, and your account manager's quarterly business review reports on network performance, resident satisfaction trends, support ticket analysis and capacity planning.
